ONE REASON WHY LEADERS FAIL

1st kings 16:29-34; 1st Corinthians 5:9-13

There are many reasons why leaders fail, but I am going to highlight one that is very important. This reason is that: leaders try to make everybody happy. This can be experienced right from the home, to the church, society, and even business. Leaders who try to make everybody happy will be involved in unnecessary compromise and will eventually lead the people against the will of God.

It is not possible to make everybody happy at the same time. Even an ice cream seller does not make everybody happy. It is only those who have money to buy the ice cream that will be happy. This means that, there is always a laid down principle guiding every organization, and even the family. Anyone who goes against such a principle or law, without any remorse, should be corrected or disciplined. Leaders will start to fail when they try overlooking or treating such an incident with levity, just to make the individual happy.

We see in 1st kings 16:29-30, how Ahab failed as a king, because he married Jezebel, who influenced him to start worshiping Baal. Ahab on the other hand, did not want to make his wife feel bad. I know it is right to treat our wives well, and make them happy. But when they try to derail us, we have to stand our grounds as a leader in the family, and make sure that the right thing is done, even if it will not be pleasant to them

Paul gave a strict warning to the church in Corinth, not to associate with Christians who openly engage in sexual sin, worshiping of idols, greed, and cheating. Such an individual should be properly disciplined in love, not minding if they get angry or not. There should be no room for compromise, If we are to succeed as leaders.

I pray that God will help us not to condone sin, in order to make people happy. But to stand our ground as leaders, and do what God instruct us to do, even if it does not make people happy. I pray in Jesus name. Amen. God bless you.
