FIND PURPOSE BY FOLLOWING GOD

Ruth 1:1-17; Romans 8:28-39

Everyone and everything on earth was made for a purpose. What is your purpose, and how do you discover it? (Keep reading.)

Ruth was the great grandmother of king David and a direct ancestor of Jesus. She might not have fulfilled that purpose if she had kissed Naomi goodbye and left just like her sister in law Orpah did. I don’t think she knew what was ahead of her, but she just followed. One thing is sure; she had heard about the God and people of her mother-in-law and she wanted to experience them, not minding the discouragement she faced.

In this day and age where our platforms for interaction gives us opportunity to follow a whole lot of people. We follow these people on social media, and people also follow us, for a whole lot of reasons: to learn, have fun, enjoy giveaways, interact, gets connection, find purpose, and even commit crime. So who are you following to find your purpose on earth?

Late Dr. Miles Monroe made few statements that will help us. He said: “when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.” He also said: “the purpose of a thing exists in the mind of the manufacturer or creator, and to know the purpose of a thing, don’t ask the thing or any other thing, ask the manufacturer.” So in order for us to discover our purpose we must ask and follow our manufacturer; our Creator – God. If you are not following God, it means that no matter what you have achieved, no matter what you have made for yourself, no matter how happy or sad you are, you might not be fulfilling your purpose.

Now how do we follow God and find purpose when we can’t see him? God has given us his Holy Spirit to live inside of us, to lead us in the right way and to the knowledge of truth. God has also handed down the manual for us to function properly. For us to make use of something we have never used before, we need to study the manual, and since God has given us the manual, which is the Bible, we need to study it. The problem is that we fail to read and study the Bible and so we live life by trial and error or by looking into someone else’s life or by listening to someone that we think knows how to help us “discover” our purpose, when such a person is not being led by God: the one who created us and knows our purpose.

I want us to be assured that no matter what we are going through right now as long as we are following God we are fulfilling purpose. We just need to take it one step at a time. Our purpose is not a single achievement, or our dream career. We should not make life more difficult for ourselves by trying all means possible to find purpose without God.

Following God is not going to be a walk in the park as long as we are here on earth. There will be time of discomfort, discouragement and challenges. At such a time, we should never think that we have gone away from our purpose. Such times draws us more into understanding our purpose, and helps us in identifying with God and His love that can heal us. Nothing can separate us from His love. And since He loves us, He will always lead us to fulfill our purpose no matter what.

I pray that nothing will stop us from following God. In Jesus name. Amen. God bless you.

    1. He found you and loved you even before you started living right. So no matter what you’ve done, you’re still on track as long as the Holy Spirit is in you. What you’ve just typed shows that the Holy Spirit is in you.

He knows your frailties and He sees your heart. Keep moving Bro, you’re on track
