LET ALL THE EARTH FEAR THE LORD

Psalm 33:1-11; Mark 4:35-41

I think we have forgotten certain reasons why we should fear God. And sometimes our actions, statements, and thoughts does not show that we fear God. I will share few reasons why we should fear God based on our passages.

When I say fear I am not talking about an unpleasant feeling or strong emotion that is caused by anticipation or awareness of danger. I am talking about a profound reference, honor or respect marked by a sense of awe.

In Psalm 33:6-9 we learned that we should fear the Lord because He is the Lord of creation and is all powerful. We need to read the passage to really get the idea. It is amazing.

“The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. He assigned the sea its boundaries and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs. Let the whole world fear the LORD, and let everyone stand in awe of him. For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.” (Psalm 33:6-9 NLT). You see what I’m talking about? Fear the Lord.

The Lord also frustrates the plans of the nations and thwarts all their schemes. Only His plans last forever and His intentions can never be shaken (Psalm 33:10-11). God will continue to thwart all the plans and schemes of every nation working against His will and His children in Jesus name. Amen.

Going to our second reading; Mark 4:35-41, we see how Jesus calmed the storm when his disciples were almost passing out because of fear. He is the Lord of creation. He can calm every storm in our lives. Let us give Him the honor that He deserves. Let us come before Him with all amount of reference, honor and awe. He is God and will always be there to see us through.

May we never become too familiar with God that we fail to honor and respect Him the way he deserves. I pray in Jesus name. Amen. God bless you
