CHRISTIANS ARE MORE THAN SUPERHEROES

Isaiah 40:26-31; Romans 8:31-39

The God we serve is the creator of the universe, and there is none like Him and no one can be compared to Him. This is a fact! But sometimes as believers we complain and say that God does not see our trouble; that God has ignored our rights. That is impossible! God is everlasting, He created heaven and earth. He is never weak and is never weary. In fact, He gives power to the weak and strength to those who are powerless.

No matter what we are going through, we should be conscious of the fact that God is the source of our strength, and the strength of our life. In Romans chapter 8 from verse 31, God makes us to understand that if He is for us, who can be against us. If He did not spare His only begotten son; if He freely gave His Son to die for us, what else can’t He give us? But I know that when we look around us, and things seem not to be going on or working out well; things seem not to be working out the way we had imagined it, we start thinking if God still loves us.

The Bible tells us that nothing; absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of God. Now the question would be: “why do we still suffer? Why do we still pass through troubles, persecution, hunger, calamity, kidnapping and all other terrible situations?” We should not forget that from the fall of man, the world had become corrupt. So when we meet with all these terrible situations, it does not in anyway show that God does not love us, rather the Bible says that despite all these things, we have won the victory; we are more than conquerors. It is not by our own strength, but through Christ who loves us.

Christ defeated the greatest enemy – death. This means that he has given us victory even in the face of all these troubles. This should make us understand that even death cannot separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. No “village people,” no demon, no power of hell in the sky or under the earth; nothing can take us away from the love of God, and this love is found in Christ Jesus. Never forget: “if God is for us, who can ever be against us?”(Romans 8:31). This does not mean that we will not come across the evil things of this world. We will come across them, but we will overcome because we are in Christ.

So how do we keep on moving?Isaiah chapter 40 verse 31 reassures us that those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. Christ will give us the strength to absorb all the pain because he still loves us. It is just like the superheroes. On a normal day, they are normal human beings, but when there is trouble, and they transform into their super hero bodies, they have a new strength: they can withstand what normal human beings can never withstand. Let’s take the Incredible Hulk for instance: he can withstand a lot of things that his normal human body cannot. He does not easily get tired, neither does he feel pain like his normal self would. So we should rely on the superhuman strength that God is giving us in His Son Jesus Christ. This makes us more than Superheroes.

For everyone of us who put their trust in God, our strength will be renewed; we will have a new strength so that even when we go through the fire, we will not be burned, and through the flood it will not drown us. No calamity of this life will be able to ground us. This is because we will not be working or walking with our own strength, we will be operating through the new strength we received from God. This strength comes by trusting in Him. With the strength, we can do what normal humans cannot do. We would run and will not be weary, we would walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31b). This is what God has for us in Christ Jesus. We are not just superheroes. Every superhero has his weakness, but God’s strength in us can NEVER become weak.

When Jesus died on the cross, and conquered death, He did it for you and me, so that we can be rest assured that nothing; absolutely nothing can separate us from his love. He loves us no matter what. Let us keep on moving. Keep on trusting. Keep on believing in God, for He will always be there for us. He will always give us the strength to overcome every trouble on our way. We shall NEVER be defeated! Amen. God bless you
