GOD GIVE US CHRISTIAN HOMES

Deuteronomy 11:16-21; Colossians 3:18-25

Yes this is the title of a wonderful hymn written by Baylus Benjamin McKinney. I see it as a wonderful prayer and I also believe that God has answered that prayer. If you have ever sang or heard this hymn, you might be painting a picture of an ideal and flawless family, and you might be wondering if your family or home is a picture of this hymn.

What is your home like presently? Is the Bible loved and taught in your home? Do you seek to do the Master’s will? Is the father of your home true and strong? Is your home joyous with love and song, and free from the blight of wrong? Does your home have a mother who while trying to care, always strives to show that God‘s way is best? Is the Lord an honored guest in your home? Does your home have children who are led to know that Christ loves them? Does the altar fire burn and glow in your home?

The Christian home does not just happen because we had attended church. The Christian home happens when a Christian or Christians in that home does what God wants them to do as a mother, father, child and even servants.

God has given us Christian homes. That is why he placed us in there. Now let us look into the scriptures daily and see what he wants us to do. Let us talk with him daily, asking for grace and enablement to carry out our responsibilities, then we will experience that Christian home we read and sing about in the famous hymn “God Give Us Christian Homes.” Amen. God bless you.

GOD GIVE US CHRISTIAN HOMES

1. God, give us Christian homes!
Homes where the Bible is loved and taught,
Homes where the Master’s will is sought,
Homes crowned with beauty Your love has wrought;
God, give us Christian homes;
God, give us Christian homes!

2. God, give us Christian homes!
Homes where the father is true and strong,
Homes that are free from the blight of wrong,
Homes that are joyous with love and song;
God, give us Christian homes;
God, give us Christian homes!

3. God, give us Christian homes!
Homes where the mother, in caring quest,
Strives to show others Your way is best,
Homes where the Lord is an honored guest;
God, give us Christian homes;
God, give us Christian homes!

4. God, give us Christian homes!
Homes where the children are led to know
Christ in His beauty who loves them so,
Homes where the altar fires burn and glow;
God, give us Christian homes;
God, give us Christian homes!
