Daniel 4:28-37; Matthew 18:1-5
The world’s greatest is not the richest, or the wisest person on earth. It is not even the most influential or the most spiritual person. The world’s greatest is one who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And according to Matthew 18:1-5, the world’s greatest is a believer who becomes as humble as a little child. Humility is what it takes to be great. We should note that humility is not timidity or stupidity, neither is it laziness in any form.

One of the greatest king that ever lived was Nebuchadnezzar. He recognized the existence of God, and the miracles he performs, but he did not acknowledge God as Lord. That was one reason why he became proud. He was warned about his pride through a dream, and was given 12 months to change, yet he refused to repent, and God took him through a practical school of humility. At the end, in Daniel 4:37, the king said: “now, I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the king of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.”

In our pursuit of the things of this life, we should not wait for God to take us through a practical school of humility. We should look to Jesus, and always ask him to teach us how to be humble. At the end, just as he was given a name that is above every other name, we will be exalted and we will become the worlds greatest: the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
So I pray that God should help us and teach us each day to do away with pride, and to always be humble. In Jesus name. Amen. God bless you.
